Why Mel the cat?
Mel is a Pixie-Bob...a "legend cat" descended from a Bobcat and domestic cat generations back. Ted found him through a breeder in Washington State and Mel came to live with Ted in 1998 when the little furball was weeks old.
It's been love every since. Well, love on our part...tolerance on Mel's part.
Mel has a distinct personality and believes the house to be his and we are all visiting him...without his consent. He struts around as if he owns the place and with just one look from this big green eyes ... you've been put in your place.
He's gone from frightened kitten to King of the Pride in a very short time. Sit in Ted's chair when Ted isn't around and you'll see, very quickly, how closely Mel resembles a Bobcat. It's not pretty.
But beneath all that attitude is a sweet, loving animal that seems to know when we are sick or not feeling ourselves. He'll follow us around as if he's watching over us and even sleeps beside us with one paw on our arm...just in case.
His favorite thing is the goldfish bowl we fondly call "Mel TV" or to just sit on the arm of Ted's chair and be petted. He demands attention and doesn't take no, or "go away you little pull-toy" for an answer.
Anyway...that's why melthecat.com
He wouldn't let us name it anything else.
